Town Releases 1Q Community Inspections Report

Ten cases of overcrowding abated in the first quarter of fiscal year 2011

During the first quarter of fiscal year 2011 (July 1, 2010 through September 30, 2010) there were 14 new complaints regarding excessive occupancy of residences were received by the Town of Herndon's zoning inspections team, compared to 23 new complaints received during the first quarter of fiscal year 2010.

Eighteen cases were closed during the quarter, with violations abated in 10 cases and no violations found in the remaining cases. The average number of cases under investigation during the three-month period was 23.   

The length of time between receipt of a complaint and an initial visit by the zoning inspections team has remained consistently low, at less than one day.

During the first quarter of fiscal year 2011, two individuals were successfully prosecuted for overcrowding violations, bringing the town's total number of successful prosecutions to 53.
