Town Officials to Discuss Possible Improvements to Busy Intersection Wednesday

Officials hope members of the public will attend and offer their input on the proposed plans.

Herndon Parkway and Van Buren Street is one of Herndon's busiest intersections.

Soon, the intersection could see some much-needed improvements - and the Town of Herndon hopes local residents will weigh in on the proposed plans.

The Town of Herndon's Department of Public Works (DPW) is hosting a town hall Wednesday night to introduce a proposal for improvements to the intersection, and invites members of the public to come view the plans, and offer their feedback on them.

In the Town's most recent "News You Can Use" webisode on its YouTube channel, Town Councilmember Dave Kirby briefly talked about the intersection, calling it "somewhat of a trouble spot in Herndon."

"I'm sure all the neighbors in that area will be tickled to death that we're going to finally tackle that situation out there," he said.

Several branches of the Town government as well as community groups are expected to attend Wednesday's meeting, including members of the Planning Commission and the Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee.

The meeting will take place in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 765 Lynn Street in downtown.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., copies of the proposed improvement plans will be able for members of the public to review. The meeting will officially begin at 7 p.m.

The Town said, for more information, people are welcome to contact the DPW at publicworks@herndon-va.gov, or to see more details on the Town's website at www.herndon-va.gov.
