Sikh Community Receives Condolence Letter from Gov. McDonnell

Gov. Bob McDonnell said his thoughts are with the Sikh community following the shooting in Wisconsin on Aug. 5.

To all members of the Sikh community:

On behalf of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia, I extend my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of those who lost their lives in Wisconsin as well as all those who survived that horrific act of violence.

Sikhism is a religion of peace, tolerance and understanding of all peoples, and all should admire the Sikh community’s spirit and resilience. While many are still coming to grips with the deep emotions stirred in the wake of such a senseless tragedy, it is my hope that all those affected will find some measure of comfort in knowing that they do not grieve alone. People from all walks of life—in our Commonwealth, these United States, and across the world—share with you the shock, confusion, anger and despair. You are not alone.

The people of this Commonwealth and these United States stand in unity with the Sikh community. As we remember the lives of the departed and pray for a swift recovery for those healing from the attack, our hearts go out to their family members, loved ones and all those affected by this terrible tragedy.

Sincerely,

Robert F. McDonnell
