Real Estate Taxes Due July 30 for Herndon Residents

Real estate taxes can be paid online.

Real estate taxes are due for Town of Herndon residents on July 30.

Payments are made twice a year in installments, in the summer and again on Dec. 5. The current real estate tax rate, which went into effect July 1, is $0.265 per $100 of assessed value for tax year 2012. Assessments are completed by Fairfax County.

Homeowners who have set up escrow accounts through their mortgage companies to pay their real estate tax will have statements sent directly to their mortgage company.

Payments can also be made online or through an electronic funds transfer. The town’s electronic funds transfer payment program takes the payment directly from a homeowners’ bank account and is free to use.

Residents who wish to pay by electronic funds transfer must complete an application for automatic recurring bank draft, available on the Town of Herndon’s website. The form and a voided check should then be sent to the town at: Town of Herndon Revenue Department, P.O. Box 427, Herndon, VA 20172.
