To the Editor:

Putting money into education is investing in the economy.

We are still slowly recovering from the recent recession and need to continue the forward movement to total economic stability.

Delegate Tom Rust (R-Herndon) has again received the endorsement of the Virginia Education Association (VEA). Their endorsement is based on his positive record of support for our public schools and education in general.

I have also recently read Leesburg Today's perspective on the job Tom is doing in Richmond. As noted in the article, Tom has spearheaded the legislature's efforts to increase education funding for our college students, with $100 million more in state funding having been dedicated to our state colleges and universities in this year's budget.

State funds help to stem the rise in college tuition, and I am very pleased to see that Tom, as Chairman of the Higher Education Subcommittee in the General Assembly, is helping to make college more affordable for our students.

Our best hope for an improved economy is having an educated society, one that can compete in a global economy.  To secure a lasting and strong recovery, Delegate Rust must continue his current work in the legislature.

Sincerely,
Claire Simanski
Herndon
