Immigration Reform Rally Planned in Herndon Wednesday

The rally is expected to draw 200 to Congressman Frank Wolf's Herndon office.

Two hundred are expected to attend a rally with the goal being to influence Congressman Frank Wolf (R-10) to support immigration reform, organizers said.

“It’s a way to get him to support a pathway to citizenship…it’s not to make him look bad,” said Noah Feldman, northern Virginia community organizer for Virginia New Majority, the group planning the rally.

“What we want to show him is that so many of his constituents believe in immigration reform now,” Feldman added.

Feldman said that Wednesday’s event, like most of their events, are non partisan. The group will meet at Rachel Carson Middle School, where they will host a rally, followed by cultural events and later a march to the congressman’s Herndon office.

Feldman said that the group is approaching Wolf in light of the unveiling so-called “Gang of Eight’s” immigration reform plan.

“Congressman Wolf is one of 15 to 20 in the house who has been identified as having influence for this issue,” Feldman said.

Feldman said that those participating in the rally will come from around the region, including Centreville, Manassas, Loudoun County, and other parts of Fairfax County.

The rally starts at 6 p.m. at Rachel Carson Middle School on 13618 McLearen Road, in Herndon. For more information, visit Virginia New Majority’s website.
