How Do I Get Tickets to the White House Easter Egg Roll 2013?

Lottery system for tickets begins Thursday and ends Monday, Feb. 25.

Get ready to get online if you're interested in getting tickets to this year's White House Easter Egg Roll. This will be the 135th year for the annual tradition.

A lottery system for tickets begins this week, on Thursday. The system will be open until Monday, Feb. 25.

Here's a message straight from the White House:

On Monday April 1, 2013, the First Family will host the 135th annual White House Easter Egg Roll. This year, more than 35,000 people will be joining us on the South Lawn for games, stories, and, of course, the traditional egg roll.

In addition to all the fun and games, the day's activities -- which will include sports courts and cooking demonstrations -- will help educate families on smart ways to incorporate healthy eating and exercise choices into their daily routines, which are key pillars of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative. For ticket information please visit www.recreation.gov, and check back soon for more on how to purchase your 2013 keepsake eggs!

From www.recreation.gov:

Lottery Opens: (Thursday) Feb. 21 (10 a.m. EST)
Lottery Closes: (Monday) Feb. 25 (10 a.m. EST)
Lottery Results Available: Friday, March 1
Event Date: Monday, April 1

Collectible 2013 Easter Eggs will be available for purchase beginning Thursday.

My family got tickets last year. It was a lot of fun. One tip, if you do get chosen, select the first time slot. That was the one when the President and First Lady actually came out and greeted everyone and participated. It was still cool to be on the White House back lawn, but would have been nice to meet them. Definitely putting my name in the hat for tix again this year.
