Herndon's Yard of the Month Season Begins

The nomination deadline for the June Yard of the Month Award is May 20

It’s spring and that means the Town of Herndon’s annual Yard of the Month award season is starting soon.

Yard of the Month gives Herndon homeowners the chance to recognize the efforts of their neighbors whose yards contribute to the beautification of the town. Town residents can nominate their own or their neighbor’s yards for the award and winners receive gift certificates to Meadows Farms. The Mayor and Town Council also recognize the winners at public meetings.

The criteria for the award includes that yards must be: generally free of trash and clutter; grass, trees, shrubs and plants are well cared for and aesthetically pleasing; rocks, logs, short fences and decorative elements are in good condition and are well placed; and flowers and vegetation are well-landscaped and make good use of color.
