Herndon Voters Turn Out Slow but Steady

Herndon's No. 2 precinct had 566 votes at 3 p.m.

Fairfax County is expecting 30 percent of area voters to come out to the polls this Election Day but at 3 p.m. at Herndon precinct No. 2 about 566 people had voted—about 12.5 percent of eligible voters in the precinct.

Election workers said it had been slow, but steady throughout the day and expected an uptick in voters at the end of the workday. The sunny day was a nice one for campaign volunteers to stand outside talking to voters.

Jay Beebe, a voter at Herndon Precinct 3, said he votes every election so he can have his word about who is elected. He said people can't complain about their representatives if they don't vote.

Vicki Herman said she tends likes to make sure she votes to help cancel out the votes of those who are on the opposite end of the spectrum. She said she votes in every election. She said she believes that Fairfax County and the Town of Herndon have shown strength through the recession and wants to ensure they keep moving forward.

"I strongly believe in voting and doing what is my privilege and honor to do," said Yvette Davis. She said she wanted to ensure her vote was counted by coming out to the polls.
