Herndon to Hold Metro Community Meeting on Jan. 23

Herndon residents and businesses will have the opportunity to learn about the most updated Metro Area Study plan and ask questions and provide feedback on Jan. 23.

The Town of Herndon will hold a community meeting on Herndon's future Metrorail station on Monday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Herndon Municipal Center, 777 Lynn St.

The town's Planning Commission and Council are continuing preparations to plan for the station, which is expected to open in 2017. Herndon's Metro stop is located in the median of the Dulles Toll Road and users will be dropped off at a stop along Herndon Parkway near the property currently leased by Booz Allen Hamilton. Users can also use the park-and-ride garage on the Reston side that leads to Sunrise Valley Drive.

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, the consulting firm working with the town on its Metro Area Study will be at the meeting to help answer questions. The firm has been working with town staff, the Council and Planning Commission, along with area businesses. The plan will guide development near the future Metro, and identify opportunities for economic growth.

During the meeting residents will be updated on a new draft plan on the project and can ask questions and provide feedback to the town.
