Herndon's Bio-Pond Recognized by Community Appearance Alliance

The project enhances community appearance by using functional and aesthetically pleasing storm water remediation elements, according to the CAA.

The Town of Herndon was honored by the Community Appearance Alliance of Northern Virginia at its annual awards presentation on Thursday, March 8.

Herndon was recognized for its bio-ponds across the street from Runnymede Park. CAA said the project enhances community appearance by using functional and aesthetically pleasing storm water remediation elements, as well as increasing the amount and diversity of plants and the extent of tree canopy along Herndon Parkway.

Herndon Mayor Steve DeBenedittis, along with Bob Boxer, Herndon’s director of the department of public works, both attended the presentation. The CAA is celebrating its 25th years of recognizing projects that make positive contributions to their communities and the region.
