Herndon Receives Award for Budget Process
Government Finance Officers Association awards Herndon with Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.
The Town of Herndon received the Government Finance Officers Association's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget process.
According to the GFOA, the award represents a significant achievement by the town and reflects the commitment the town has to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
To receive the award, municipalities must satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation, which include:

• a policy document
• a financial plan
• an operations guide
• a communications device
Budget documents must be rated "proficient" in all four categories, as well as the 14 mandatory criteria within the categories, to receive the award.

The GFOA presented a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation to the town's administration and department of finance. According to a press release from the GFOA, 1,328 entities received the award throughout the US and Canada.
