Herndon Lights Up for the Holidays

Cultivating Community Initiative selects 2011 Dress Up Herndon for the Holidays winners.

Members of the Town of Herndon's Cultivating Community Initiative committee put on their holiday gear to judge the annual Dress Up Herndon for the Holidays contest on Monday, Dec. 12. "We went out in the big van and we found beautiful lights all over town," committee member Lynn Schumaker said at Tuesday's Town Council meeting. 

The eight winners chosen for 2011 are:
 
• 610 Spring Street - Classic Christmas; Fine white lights, traditional wreaths
• 1195 Monroe Street - Holiday Lights in Action; White lights with colorful accents and gracefully moving deer
• 769 Grace Street - Festive Wow; A colorful display with lights of many colors
• 617 Merlins Lane - Musical Whimsy; A display with inflatables, music and wreaths
• 763 Monroe Street - Griswold House; Fun, colorful lights, inflatables, and more
• 912 Park Avenue - Townhouse Award; Colored lights from top to bottom
• 711 Pine Street - Commercial Property Award; Brush Strokes with elegant lights
• Austin Lane - Neighborhood Award; Nearly every house in the neighborhood is lit
