Herndon Celebrates Arbor Day

The Town of Herndon celebrated Arbor Day with fourth grade students at Herndon Elementary School.

The Town of Herndon celebrated Arbor Day on April 27 with students at Herndon Elementary School. The school's fourth grade students received spruce trees to take home to plant and a Trident Maple was planted at the school to commemorate both Arbor Day and the 50th anniversary of Herndon Elementary School.

The spruce trees were donated by the town through the Fourth Grade Foresters USA Program. Mayor Steve DeBenedittis, Councilman Bill Tirrell, Councilwoman Sheila Olem, Herndon Elementary Principal Ann Gwynn, Town Forester John Dudzinsky and Virginia Department of Forestry's Jim McGlone were in attendance. The town was presented with the Tree City USA award and the Tree City USA Growth award.
