At 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 the American Legion Wayne M. Kidwell Post 184 held its annual Veterans Day Observance. 

The annual event included the Herndon High Junior Naval ROTC posting the colors, Harlon Reece, director of the Herndon Towne Singers, singing the National Anthem and an invocation by Post CHaplain Dmytro Andriuk. 

Commander of Post 184, David Kirby provided the opening remarks and introduced guest speaker, Col. William Campenni of the U.S. Air Force/Air National Guard.

For the first time, the Herndon Women's Club served cookies, coffee and punch after the event.
