Having a Block Party?

Here's what the Town of Herndon needs you to know

• Public streets and facilities within the Town of Herndon area available for community events, such as parades, foot races, block parties and bicycle races. Organizers of these events need to contact the Town Manager for their requirements.

• Applications for road-way use permits must be turned in by mail or delivery at least 30 days prior to the scheduled event. Traffic disruption, participant safety, emergency vehicle access, availability of police resources, and other factors will affect the application’s approval or disapproval. If a street or cul-de-sac is being used at least one lane must remain open for emergency vehicle access.

• Verbal approval may be granted for planning purposes, but applicants will receive an approved or disapproved application within 10 days of their submission. If an event is canceled or postponed, organizers should contact the Department of Public Works director at public.works@herndon-va.gov as early as possible.
