George Allen Visits with Herndon Area Voters

George Allen traveled around Northern Virginia on Super Tuesday, conversing with voters in the area.

George Allen spent his Super Tuesday traveling around Northern Virginia to speak with voters, including those at the Kinross precincts, 908 and 909, at Oak Hill Elementary School just south of Herndon.

The former Virginia governor has served on the Virginia House of Delegates and the U.S. House of Representatives. Allen is currently seeking a seat on the U.S. Senate, running against Tim Kaine, another former Virginia governor.

During his stop in the Herndon area, Allen spoke with voters, shook hands with poll workers and took photos with his supporters. He even helped one voter place a bumper sticker on her vehicle.

When it comes to the 2012 presidential race, Allen said hasn't endorsed any of the Republican candidates yet. He said he will support whichever Republican candidate runs strongest in Virginia. He said he hopes they run on a platform close to his and that their views align, which would make it a lot easier to work with them.

Allen said when it comes to his 2012 senate race, he is most concerned with making sure America's economy grows as well as working to create jobs. He said he also wants to tap into the energy available to the U.S., including the Keystone Pipeline, the Gulf of Mexico and exploring the energy resources off the Virginia coastline, which he says would create more jobs.

Americans are anxious about rising gas prices and tapping into America's energy resources could reduce the financial strain many are facing while providing jobs, Allen said. "We would also be more secure and less vulnerable to hostile, outside forces and we'd be keeping our money here in the United States of America," he said.

At about 12:30 p.m. Kinross precinct 908 had 62 voters while Kinross precinct 909 had 51—or about 2 percent of registered voters.
