Five Things to Know Today in Herndon

The Town Council's public hearing will be held Wednesday.

1) This week's Herndon Town Council meeting will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Ingram Council Chambers. The meeting has been moved from its normal Tuesday time so that members of the council could attend the annual Virginia Municipal League Conference. 

2) Symphony Financial is hosting a workshop on retirement, "Life After Work: How to Create a Sustainable Income Stream in Retirement," at 6:30 p.m. tonight at ArtSpace, 650 Center St. The workshop will help people decide how they can ease into retirement and ways they can continue to support themselves. 3) The Herndon Pei Wei location is helping raise money for the Walk to End Alzheimer's on Wednesday. Twenty percent of food orders will be contributed to the Alzheimer's Association for customers who bring in the flyer that can be found by clicking here.

4) ArtSpace Herndon is hosting two meetings Wednesday evening to collect input on its new project, the Public Art in the Windows Project. The unused, boarded windows at ArtSpace will be filled with public art after a call for artists. Participants at the meetings, to be held at 5 and 7 p.m., will help establish guidelines for the call for art. 

5) The Town of Herndon will hold a Home Maintenance Workshop from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Neighborhood Resource Center. The workshop is free and open to the public. Participants will learn how to do home maintenance tasks that can help them avoid costly repairs.
