Five Things To Know This Week

"A Touch of Red" opens at ArtSpace today, there is no Herndon Town Council meeting tonight, and the Helping Others "Home for the Holidays" fundraiser is Friday.

This week winds down November and ushers in December, a month full of holiday events, giving back to the community and enjoying time with friends and family.

1. Opening today at ArtSpace is the exhibit, “A Touch of Red.” The juried exhibit includes artwork by members of the Great Falls Studios and the show features a variety of mediums, including paintings, sculpture, jewelry, pottery and more.

2. Today is the fifth Tuesday of the month, which means there will be no Herndon Town Council meeting tonight. The Council will meet next on Dec. 6 for a work session, then Dec. 13 for a public hearing before taking a break through the rest of December.

LINK needs donations of food and toys, as well as monetary donations and boxes to sort food into. Also needed are volunteers to help sort, pack and distribute boxes and translators.

The event raises funds for Fisher House, an organization that allows the families of military members stay close to their beloved soldiers when they’re receiving treatment in military medical centers. Additionally, attendees can do some shopping, socializing and check out some workshops that will be helpful through the holidays.
