Public Hearing - Proposed Herndon Metrorail Station Area Plan

The Town of Herndon is preparing for the opening of the Herndon-Monroe Metrorail stop, located in the median of the Dulles Toll Road adjacent to the existing park-and-ride garage on Sunrise Valley Drive.  Once built, the metrorail station will be a stimulus for positive growth and change in Herndon.  The Town is working to plan for this change and create an exciting new sense of place around the station.  The draft vision statement to be reviewed by the Planning Commission is:

The Herndon Metrorail station area is a distinctive employment center and residential neighborhood characterized by concentrated development that is vibrant, mixed use, transit oriented and pedestrian friendly.  Emerging development is interwoven with and strengthens the town's cultural fabric and sense of identity.
