Delegate Rust invites you to Take-Back Day

Delegate Rust will be participating in Virginia's First-Ever National Take-Back Day this Saturday, September 25th. This state-wide event will enable residents to safely dispose of unused, unwanted or expired medications at local collection sites. He will be stopping by the collection site at the Eastern Loudoun Police Station located at 46620 E. Frederick Drive in Sterling. Other sites include Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church, Leesburg, Chantilly, and Vienna.

Commenting about National Take-Back Day, Delegate Rust stated that, "Drug abuse is prevalent in our society and providing this option will allow Virginians to dispose of drugs responsibly. I am especially concerned about medications, which have expired or are no longer needed, that are in the homes of our youth and seniors." Public health officials now call prescription drug abuse an epidemic.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at all locations. The program is anonymous and free, and it will help prevent prescription drug abuse and allow residents to dispose of medications in a safe manor. Both prescription and over-the-counter medications are accepted; however, intra-venous solutions, injectables, needles, and illicit substances will not be accepted.
