DRCC Takes Stand Against Eminent Domain Amendment

The Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce has joined with other area chambers in opposition to proposed legislation that would limit the use of eminent domain.

The Washington Business Journal reports that a group of Northern Virginia chambers of commerce have are campainging against proposed amendments to the state constitution that would limit the use of eminent domain.

The Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce, Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce make up the Northern Virginia Chamber Partnership. The group said in a press release Wednesday that the restrictions would hurt local jurisdictions and municipalities in any attempts to expand infrastructure such as water, sewer, gas lines and roads. This in turn could hurt economic development efforts.

The Washington Business Journal says Fairfax and Arlington counties, along with many other pro-business organizations, are also against the eminent domain amendment.
