Shred Your Papers, Support Fairfax County Crime Solvers

Fairfax Crime Solvers hosts shred event this weekend.

Fairfax County Crime Solvers is hosting a paper shredding event and fundraiser on Saturday at the Sully District Police Station.

Area community members are welcome to drop in from 9 a.m. to noon to dispose of their personal and financial documents by securely shredding them. Crime Solvers says shredding old papers helps prevent identity theft.

Attendees are welcome to drive through the front parking lot of the Sully District Police Station to hand off bags and boxes of papers. The event sponsor, Cornerstone Records Management, will shred papers on site.

During the event Crime Solvers will accept donations to benefit the organization, which is a nonprofit that works to provide anonymous phone, email and text capabilities for the public to report criminal activity to the police. Those who leave tips and information are protected under state law.

If a person’s tip or information leads to an arrest or case closure, cash rewards from $100 to $1,000 are paid to them. All reward funds are raised through donations to the organization. Visit www.FairfaxCrimeSolvers.org to learn more.
