Sexual Assault Reported in the Herndon Area

Suspect likely broke into Herndon-area home

Fairfax County Police are investigating a sexual assault that happened in the early morning hours on Saturday, June 4, 2011.

Police were called to an apartment in the 13700 block of Merrybrook Court, near where Rt. 28 and the Dulles Toll Road intersect, at about 5:30 a.m.

An investigation determined the victim, a 23-year-old woman, woke up to find a man in her bedroom. The man displayed a weapon and sexually assaulted the victim, then fled from the home. The victim did not require medical treatment.

The suspect is described as a man of unknown race with a light complexion. He is about 6-feet to 6-feet-2-inches tall with a large build. He was wearing a black tank top, khaki cargo shorts and a light-colored cloth was wrapped around his head that covered his face.

Police believe the suspect forced entry through the locked door of the home. Other family members were at home at the time but were not injured. The investigation is ongoing.
