Police Standoff Continues on Youngs Point Place in Herndon
Man, believed to be armed, threatens to harm himself, but Fairfax County police say there is no public threat at this time.
Fairfax County police continue to wait outside a Youngs Point Place home hours after responding to a report of a man reportedly armed and threatening to harm himself Monday evening.
Just after midnight Tuesday, officers are now heading into their sixth hour outside of the Herndon home in an effort to get the resident to cooperate. The road has been blocked off since just after 6 p.m., when police first responded to the area.
Department spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell told Patch there is no threat to the greater community at this time: The "situation is contained to the home" and police don't believe at this point there is anyone else inside, she said.
