Police: Herndon Woman Raped at Gunpoint in Wooded Area

Manassas-area police officers used a K-9 to search for the suspect, who is still at large, according to Prince William County Police.

A Herndon woman reported that she was raped at gunpoint in the Manassas area Thursday night, according to Prince William County Police. 

Prince William County Police said they responded to the area of Maplewood Drive and Peakwood Court at 11:15 p.m. Thursday.

The 31-year-old victim told police that she was walking to the home of a known acquaintance, when a strange man approached her.

The man pulled out a handgun and forced the woman into a wooded area nearby, where he raped her, police said. The man reportedly fled on foot after the attack. Emergency responders took the woman to a local hospital, while police used a K-9 and helicopter to search for the suspect, according to police.

Police official described the suspect is described as a black male, about 5’9” with a medium build. He was wearing a black, puffy winter jacket, dark gray jeans, and a black and white bandana.
