Police: Broom Assault, Bite and Car Theft in Domestic Incident

Other assaults and robberies reported in Herndon Police Department's weekly report.

A woman has been arrested in the alleged assault of a local man, according to Herndon Police Department.

Maria Alas-Ramirez, age 28 of Herndon, was charged with Aggravated Malicious Wounding, Malicious Wounding, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and Grand Larceny.

On May 13, police responded to the 1100 block of Autumn Haze Court. According to police, Alas-Ramirez is accused of striking the victim with a broom and biting him. She is also accused of taking his cell phone and his car.

Alas-Ramirez was also charged with a second count of Malicious Wounding for a prior incident. 

Other "major incidents," as reported by the Herndon Police Department:

Robbery-Person: 5/14/2014, 1200 block Elden St.
A victim was assaulted and robbed of cash. The case is under investigation.  

Aggravated Assault: 5/14/2014, 300 block Reneau Way
A subject forced his way into his friend’s home and threatened him with a blunt object. Walter Talarek, age 30 of Great Falls, was charged with Breaking/Entering with the Threat to Assault, Attempted Malicious Bodily Injury, and Assault and Batter.  

Burglary-Residential: 5/14/2014, 500 block Fairfax Lane
An unknown subject entered a home and stole various items. The case is under investigation.  

Kidnapping/Abduction: 5/16/2014, 600 Center St.
A subject assaulted and held his girlfriend against her will. Rahul Sikand, age 24 of Herndon, was charged with Domestic Assault and Abduction.
