Pedestrian Hit By Car Tuesday Night Dies

The Herndon Police Department has released the victim's identity.

 

Herndon police issued a statement late Friday indicating the pedestrian hit by a car Tuesday night at the intersection of Van Buren and Elden streets has died.

Sixty-two-year-old Judy MacMillan of Herndon has been identified as the victim.

Police say the department's Crash Reconstruction unit investigated the incident  and determined the vehicle that struck MacMillan on Tuesday night entered the intersection legally on a green light.

MacMillan crossed the street going westbound on Elden, police said, despite a lit "Do Not Walk" warning.

The Herndon Police Department received the call reporting an accident involving a pedestrian around 10:24 p.m. Tuesday, Lt. Jim Moore said.

MacMillan was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, including multiple broken bones, Moore said.

Herndon police indicated in their statement that no charges are pending against the driver.
