No one was injured during the fire

A house in Herndon's Cuttermill neighborhood caught fire Thursday afternoon after it was struck by lightning.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to the single-family home, at 1112 Artic Quill Rd., at about 5:55 p.m. on Aug. 18.

Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire from the roof, rear and front of the house. They conducted an exterior fire attack and brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes. Firefighters also entered the home to extinguish hot spots in the attic and second floor and to conduct overhaul operations.

Three adults living in the home have been displaced, though none were injured. Red Cross is assisting the family.
