Herndon Woman Issued Summons for Larceny

Herndon woman attempted to steal groceries from a Vienna drug store.

An employee at Rexall Drug Store, 150 Maple Ave. in Vienna, reported a woman entered the store and tried to leave with a shopping bag of groceries at about 4:40 p.m. on Nov. 8. 

The employee approached the woman and told her she would need to pay for the groceries, but the woman fled with the employee in pursuit. 

After a brief chase the employee was able to stop and hold the woman until police arrived. While attempting to detain the woman, the employee was kicked several times.

An officer from the Vienna Police Department responded and issued a summons to a 62-year-old Herndon woman for petit larceny and simple assault. She was released after signing the summons.
