Herndon Police Seeking Suspect in Attempted Robbery

Two men allegedly attempted to rob a woman early Sunday on Alabama Drive. One of them is in custody, but to locate the other, police need your help.

Herndon Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the second suspect in a Sunday robbery on Alabama Drive.

Police say a woman was walking around 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of Alabama Drive when she saw two men nearby. She moved away from the men but was followed. Then, the pair approached her.

One of the men allegedly pointed his hand at the woman as if he were holding a gun and demanded her purse. The woman told police he attempted to grab her purse off of her shoulders but she was able to pull away and run.

Two Herndon police officers on foot patrol in the 1100 block of Elden Street heard the woman screaming for help and ran to locate her. They were able to take one of the men into custody.

The suspect who was apprehended was identified as Ever Noel Maricia, 24, of Springtide Place in Herndon. He was charged with attempted robbery and possession of false identification. He’s being held at the Fairfax County jail on no bond.

The second suspect ran from the scene. He is described as a black man in his 20s, between 5-foot-10 and 6 feet and weighing about 155 pounds. He was last seen wearing a brown shirt, no jacket and a black cap.
