Herndon Police Report: Weapon Accidentally Discharged Inside a Residence

A subject accidentally discharged a weapon inside their home on Jan. 30 in the 2100 block of Highcourt Lane.

The Herndon Police Department reported the following incidents from Jan. 28 through Feb. 3, 2013. The following information was supplied by the Herndon Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.  

BRUIN DISTRICT
• The victim reported being assaulted by an acquaintance at 3:43 a.m. on Jan. 31 in the 700 block of Hemlock Court.
• Juvenile subjects were found to be in possession of a GPS unit that was stolen from a parked vehicle at 2:50 a.m. on Jan. 30 in the 400 block of Florida Avenue.
• The victim reported a subject was observed entering their vehicle and removing their cell phone before fleeing the scene at 4:37 p.m. on Jan. 31 in the 700 block of Elden Street.
• A 22-year-old Herndon woman was arrested for being drunk in public at 1:09 a.m. on Feb. 3 in the 600 block of Legacy Pride Drive.
• A subject was found to have accidentally discharged a weapon inside of their residence at 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 30 in the 2100 block of Highcourt Lane. 

GOLF COURSE DISTRICT
• The victim reported being assaulted by an acquaintance at 10:55 a.m. on Feb. 2 in the 1400 block of Rainbow Court.
• A 45-year-old Herndon man was arrested for being drunk in public as well as on an outstanding warrant out of Loudoun County at 4:53 p.m. on Jan. 29 near the intersection of Herndon Parkway and Crosstitch Drive.
• A 33-year-old Herndon woman was arrested for being drunk in public and unlawful entry at 8:41 p.m. on Jan. 31 in the 500 block of Early Fall Court.
• Graffiti was reported in the area at 3:14 p.m. on Jan. 28 in the 1100 block of Whitewater Place.
• Graffiti was found in the area at 4:26 p.m. on Jan. 29 in the 800 block of Ferndale Avenue. 

HALEY SMITH DISTRICT
• A 20-year-old Oak Hill man and an 18-year-old Falls Church woman were both arrested for assault and larceny at 4:02 p.m. on Jan. 31 in the 400 block of Elden Street.
• The victim reported being assaulted by a subject inside a business at 5:26 p.m. on Feb. 3 in the 600 block of Grant Street.
• A subject attempted to shoplift groceries from a business at 4:24 p.m. on Jan. 30 in the 400 block of Elden Street.
• A 21-year-old Reston man was arrested for being drunk in public at 12:01 a.m. on Jan. 28 in the 700 block of Cordell Way. 

RUNNYMEDE DISTRICT
• The victim reported their wallet was stolen from the bathroom of a church between 12:10 and 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 16 in the 700 block of Peachtree Street.
• The victim reported the door to their storage room was damaged by an unknown subject at 8:15 p.m. on Jan. 28 in the 700 block of Elden Street.
• A group of subjects was observed smashing the windshield of a parked vehicle before fleeing the scene at 9:15 p.m. on Jan. 28 in the 700 block of Park Avenue.
• A subject has been observed damaging the locks on coin-operated laundry machines and removing the money at 1:45 p.m. on Feb. 1 in the 800 block of Locust Street.
• The victim reported sending money to a fraudulent source after receiving an FBI pop-up screen on their computer requesting money at 11:06 a.m. on Jan. 31 in the 500 block of Dranesville Road. 

CENTER DISTRICT
• A 27-year-old Arlington man was arrested at 9:20 p.m. on Jan. 31 for armed robbery and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony after a robbery that occurred at 3:33 p.m. on Jan. 30.
• A 24-year-old Herndon man was arrested for attempted robbery and for having fraudulent identification at 3:22 a.m. on Feb. 3 in the 1200 block of Alabama Drive.
• A 23-year-old Herndon man was arrested for possession of marijuana and unlawful entry at 9:48 p.m. on Jan. 28 in the 1100 block of Elden Street.
• A subject shoplifted a bottle of Pinnacle Orange Whip from a business at 10:10 a.m. on Feb. 2 in the 1200 block of Elden Street.
• A 45-year-old Sterling man was arrested for being drunk in public, trespassing and on an outstanding warrant out of Fairfax County at 2:35 p.m. on Jan. 30 in the 1100 block of Elden Street.
• The victim reported losing their credit card while pumping gas, then finding unauthorized charges at local businesses at 5:18 p.m. on Jan. 28 in the 1000 block of Elden Street.
• A noise complaint was reported at 10:52 p.m. on Jan. 29 in the 1200 block of Elden Street.
• A trespassing was reported at 9:57 a.m. on Feb. 2 in the 1100 block of Elden Street.
• A noise complaint was reported at 12:12 a.m. on Feb. 3 in the 1200 block of Wilshire Drive. 

OTHER INCIDENTS
• A 20-year-old Sterling man was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Loudoun County at 5:26 p.m. on Feb. 3 near the intersection of Herndon Parkway and Monroe Street.
• Herndon Police reported the following traffic incidents from Jan. 28 to Feb. 3: two incidents of reckless driving, one incident of driving under the influence, 35 incidents of speeding, two incidents of driving while on a suspended or revoked license, and 12 incidents of expired or no Town of Herndon sticker.
