Herndon Police Report: Thieves Hitting Unlocked Vehicles

The reported the following incidents from Aug. 13 through Aug. 19, 2012. The following information was supplied by the Herndon Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. 

BRUIN DISTRICT
• A 23-year-old Ashburn man and a 20-year-old Herndon woman were issued a summons for possession of marijuana at 9:52 p.m. on Aug. 19 in the 500 block of Florida Avenue.
• A noise complaint was reported at 4:59 a.m. on Aug. 14 in the 400 block of Virginia Avenue.
• A noise complaint was reported at 9:25 p.m. on Aug. 14 in the 400 block of Virginia Avenue. 

GOLF COURSE DISTRICT
• The victim reported being assaulted by an acquaintance at 7:22 p.m. on Aug. 15 in the 1200 block of Bond Street.
• A bicycle was stolen from the front yard of a residence between 9 p.m. on Aug. 16 and 8 a.m. on Aug. 17 in the 600 block of Clearwater Court.
• The drivers side window of a parked vehicle was smashed between midnight and 6 a.m. on Aug. 13 in the 1200 block of Springtide Place.
• A noise complaint was reported at 2:15 p.m. on Aug. 15 in the 1100 block of Waterford Place.  

HALEY SMITH DISTRICT
• The victim reported being assaulted by an acquaintance at 8:48 p.m. on Aug. 19 in the 700 block of Grant Street.
• Two subjects attempted to shoplift speakers and football gloves from a business at 1:11 p.m. on Aug. 13 in the 400 block of Elden Street.
• An 18-year-old Reston man was issued a summons for larceny at 5:38 p.m. on Aug. 13 in the 400 block of Elden Street.
• A subject attempted to shoplift clocks and feminine hygiene products from a business at 9:09 p.m. on Aug. 14 in the 400 block of Elden Street.
• Two juvenile subjects attempted to shoplift condoms from a business at 3:25 p.m. on Aug. 17 in the 400 block of Elden Street.
• Two subjects attempted to shoplift groceries from a business at 4:17 p.m. on Aug. 18 in the 400 block of Elden Street.
• A trespassing was reported at 10:27 a.m. on Aug. 15 in the 300 block of Elden Street.
• A business Paypal account was tampered with, though no financial loss was reported, at 2:51 p.m. on Aug. 17 in the 600 block of Herndon Parkway. 

RUNNYMEDE DISTRICT
• An unknown subject entered a residence and stole an undisclosed amount of money at 10:51 p.m. on Aug. 18 in the 700 block of Tympani Drive.
• An unsecured vehicle was entered between noon on Aug. 14 and 11 a.m. on Aug. 15 and a flashlight was reported stolen in the 1100 block of Crest Drive.
• An unsecured vehicle was entered between 10 p.m. on Aug. 14 and 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 15 and goggles, cash and a GPS unit were reported stolen in the 700 block of Huntsman Place.
• An unsecured vehicle was entered between 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 14 and 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 15 and a GPS unit was reported stolen in the 700 block of Huntsman Place.
• The victim reported a subject attempted to steal her purse while she was using the computers at the library at 4:45 p.m. on Aug. 16 in the 700 block of Center Street.
• Two propane tanks were stolen from the backyard of a residence between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 16 in the 700 block of Van Buren Street.
• An unsecured vehicle was entered between 9 p.m. on Aug. 14 and 4 p.m. on Aug. 17 and a radio face plate was reported stolen in the 700 block of Huntsman Place.
• Several work vans and trailers were reported broken into with numerous tools being reported stolen at 7:49 a.m. on Aug. 18 in the 600 block of Spring Street. 

CENTER DISTRICT
• The drivers side window of a parked vehicle was smashed and a GPS unit was reported stolen at 7:36 a.m. on Aug. 13 in the 1200 block of Wilshire Drive.
• A subject exited a taxi without paying their cab fare at 11:27 a.m. on Aug. 14 in the 1200 block of Elden Street.
• The rear window of a vehicle was reported smashed between 3 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 13 in the 1200 block of Wilshire Drive. 

OTHER INCIDENTS
• A 32-year-old Herndon woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated at 11:37 p.m. on Aug. 14 in the 13000 block of Worldgate Drive.
• A 45-year-old Skillman, NJ man was arrested for driving while intoxicated at 12:41 a.m. on Aug. 18 in the 300 block of Senate Court.
• A 48-year-old Herndon man was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Fairfax County at 8:33 a.m. on Aug. 15 in the 1100 block of Shannon Place.
• A 32-year-old Montgomery, MD man was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Loudoun County at 7:14 a.m. on Aug. 16 in the 700 block of Lions Pride Drive.
• Herndon Police reported the following traffic incidents from Aug. 13-19: three incidents of driving under the influence, 36 incidents of speeding, eight incidents of no operators license, one incident of driving while on a suspended or revoked license, and one incident of expired or no Town of Herndon sticker.
