Herndon Police Report - Feb. 28 to March 6

The Herndon Police Department is hosting a prescription drug abuse info session on April 7

Town of Herndon Police reported the following incidents from Feb. 28 to March 6, 2011:

BRUIN DISTRICT
• The victim reported an attempted robbery by two unknown subjects, one of which produced a knife, at 9:30 p.m. on March 4 near the intersection of Alton Square and Worldgate Drive.
• Jose Zelaya, 50, of Herndon, was arrested at 9:58 a.m. on March 4 in the 400 block of VanBuren Street for an alleged assault after a traffic incident that occurred on Feb. 28.
• Khalil Mhaidar, 21, of Reston, was arrested for alleged assault and disorderly conduct at 11:01 p.m. on March 2 in the 13000 block of Worldgate Drive.
• The victim reported being assaulted by an acquaintance at 11:01 a.m. on March 6 in the 700 block of Herndon Woods Court.
• The victim reported a bag containing jewelry was stolen from their bedroom in a residence at 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 28 in the 300 block of Holly Court.
• The victim reported their wallet and cell phone stolen from a gym locker between 7 and 8 a.m. on March 3 in the 13000 block of Worldgate Drive.
• The victim reported an undisclosed amount of money was stolen from their bedroom in a residence at 9 p.m. on March 4 in the 500 block of Florida Avenue.
• The victim reported their license plate was stolen from their vehicle by an acquaintance at 4:30 p.m. on March 5 in the 300 block of Missouri Avenue.
• The window of a parked vehicle was reported damaged with a rock at 1:12 a.m. on March 4 in the 12000 block of Worldgate Drive.
• Erik Sevrence, 31, of Lexington Park, MD, was arrested for alleged destruction of property and drunk in public at 2:12 a.m. on March 5 in the 2200 block of Westcourt Lane.
• The rear sliding glass door of a residence was reported damaged at 8:45 p.m. on March 5 in the 700 block of Lions Pride Drive.
• The window of a residence was reported damaged at 9:15 p.m. on March 5 in the 800 block of Alabama Drive.
• Two parked vehciles’ windows were found to have been damaged between 4 p.m. on march 5 and 7:45 a.m. on march 6 in the 500 block of Florida Avenue.
• The window of a parked vehicle was reported damaged between 5 p.m. on March 5 and noon on March 6 in the 700 block of Palmer Drive.

GOLF COURSE DISTRICT
• Snow plow parts were reported stolen between 4 p.m. on Feb. 25 and 4 p.m. on Feb. 28 in the 1400 block of Sterling Road.
• Graffiti was reported found in the area at 10:11 a.m. on March 5 in the 1100 block of Autumnhaze Court.

HALEY SMITH DISTRICT
• Jose Quintanilla Rivera, 33, of no fixed address, was arrested for alleged drunk in public at 9:31 a.m. on Feb. 28 in the 600 block of Elden Street.

RUNNYMEDE DISTRICT
• The victim reported being assaulted by an acquaintance at 4:44 p.m. on March 5 in the 900 block of Park Avenue.
• A handicapped sign was reported stolen from outside a business at 1:10 p.m. on March 1 in the 800 block of Locust Street.
• A vehicle was reported broken into between 11 p.m. on March 3 and 6 a.m. on march 4 and a GPS unit and a pair of sunglasses were reported stolen in the 900 block of Branch Drive.
• Anthony Ellison, 25, of Herndon, was arrested for alleged possession of PCP and drunk in public at 3:28 p.m. on March 4 in the 600 block of Center Street.
• Graffiti was reported found in the area at 9:05 p.m. on March 2 in the 900 block of Park Avenue.

CENTER DISTRICT
• Iesha Walker, 19, of Reston, was arrested for alleged assault at 8:03 p.m. on March 2 in the 1100 block of Elden Street.
• Jose Lopez Garcia, 34, of Herndon, was arrested for alleged assault at 2:38 p.m. on March 3 in the 1200 block of Wilshire Drive.
• The victim reported subjects stealing jewelry, a wallet and a cell phone from them and making unauthorized purchases on their credit card at 2:43 p.m. on March 1 in the 1000 block of Elden Street.
• The victim reported a subject passing a counterfeit $50 bill at 12:16 p.m. on March 2 in the 1000 block of Elden Street.
• The victim reported an unknown subject using their bank information to make utility payments over the Internet at 8:57 a.m. on March 1 in the 1200 block of Magnolia Lane.
• A trespassing was reported at 12:05 p.m. on March 3 in the 1100 block of Elden Street.
• Steven Smith, 48, of Ashburn, was arrested for allegedly displaying a license plate decal known to be fictitious at 7:37 a.m. on March 5 in the 1200 block of Elden Street.

OTHER INCIDENTS
• Erick Alvarado Ayala, 26, of Manassas, was arrested on an alleged outstanding warrant out of Prince William County at 9:55 a.m. on March 2 in the 700 block of Lynn Street.
• Herndon Police reported two incidents of reckless driving, 12 incidents of speeding, eight incidents of no operators license, two incidents of driving while on a suspended or revoked license, and 59 incidents of expired or no Town of Herndon sticker.

 

Herndon Police Host Prescription Drug Abuse Info Session

The Herndon Police Department is hosting a Prescription Drug Abuse Information Session on Thursday, April 7 from 7-8:30 p.m.

According to HPD, abuse of prescription drugs is becoming more serious both accidentally and intentionally. Learn about potential dangers that could be in your own medicine cabinet. Guest speakers will include Robert Cade of Walgreens Pharmacy and Tom Cook of the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board among others.
