Herndon Police Report: 26 Incidents of Speeding Reported

Applications being accepted for 2013 HPD Youth Police Academy.

The Herndon Police Department reported the following incidents from Dec. 31, 2012 through Jan. 6, 2013. The following information was supplied by the Herndon Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.  

BRUIN DISTRICT
• A 19-year-old Reston man was issued a summons for possession of marijuana at 11:52 p.m. on Jan. 4 in the 700 block of Alabama Drive.
• A 61-year-old man with no fixed address was arrested for being drunk in public at 7:15 p.m. on Jan. 4 in the 900 block of Alabama Drive.
• The victim reported that between Dec. 17 and Dec. 31 the hood and top part of their truck was scratched. The incident was reported at 8:17 a.m. on Jan. 2 in the 12000 block of Worldgate Drive.
• A noise complaint was reported at 4:36 a.m. on Dec. 31 in the 700 block of Lions Pride Drive.
• A noise complaint was reported at 11:21 p.m. on Dec. 31 in the 500 block of Florida Avenue.
• The victim reported an unknown subject using their credit card without authorization at 2:05 p.m. on Jan. 5 in the 700 block of Birch Court.
• A noise complaint was reported at 11 p.m. on Jan. 5 in the 400 block of Virginia Avenue. 

GOLF COURSE DISTRICT
• The victim reported being assaulted by an acquaintance at 3:03 a.m. on Jan. 6 in the 1100 block of Crestview Drive.
• A noise complaint was reported at 3:20 a.m. on Jan. 1 in the 1200 block of Terrylynn Court.
• A noise complaint was reported at 1:06 p.m. on Jan. 6 in the 1200 block of Springtide Place.

HALEY SMITH DISTRICT
• The victim reported being assaulted by an acquaintance at 11:57 p.m. on Jan. 5 in the 300 block of Elden Street.
• A 27-year-old Herndon woman was issued a summons for concealing merchandise at 6:57 p.m. on Jan. 4 in the 400 block of Elden Street.
• A subject attempted to shoplift earrings from a business at 3:42 p.m. on Jan. 5 in the 400 block of Elden Street.
• A 34-year-old Reston man was arrested for being drunk in public at 12:29 a.m. on Dec. 31 in the 200 block of Elden Street.
• A noise complaint was reported at 1:21 a.m. on Jan. 6 in the 400 block of Reneau Way. 

RUNNYMEDE DISTRICT
• The victim reported being assaulted by an acquaintance at 4:37 p.m. on Jan. 1 in the 1000 block of Queens Court.
• The victim reported an unknown subject used their information to obtain a Home Depot credit card without their authorization at 5:51 p.m. on Jan. 3 in the 1300 block of Monroe Street.
• The victim reported the rain deflector on their parked vehicle was damaged at 5:03 p.m. on Jan. 1 in the 1000 block of Kings Court.

CENTER DISTRICT
• A 35-year-old Herndon man was arrested for being drunk in public at 1:05 p.m. on Jan. 1 in the 1000 block of Alabama Drive.
• A trespassing was reported at 12:12 p.m. on Jan. 4 in the 1000 block of Elden Street.
• A noise complaint was reported at 10:12 p.m. on Jan. 6 in the 1200 block of Elden Street.
• A 29-year-old Herndon man was arrested for driving while intoxicated at 1:04 p.m. on Jan. 1 near the intersection of Dranesville Road and Bennett Street.
• A 24-year-old Herndon man was arrested for hit and run at 10:08 a.m. on Jan. 2 near the intersection of Florida Avenue and Bruce Court after an accident that occurred on Jan. 1 at 5:24 a.m.
• A 25-year-old Sterling man was arrested for driving while intoxicated at 3:17 a.m. on Jan. 5 in the 1000 block of Elden Street. 

OTHER INCIDENTS
• A 27-year-old Ashburn woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Loudoun County at 11:45 p.m. on Jan. 1in the 1100 block of Elden Street.
• A 20-year-old Herndon man was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Fairfax County at 8:34 p.m. on Jan. 2 in the 900 block of Park Avenue.
• Herndon Police reported the following traffic incidents from Dec. 31, 2012 to Jan. 6, 2013: two incidents of driving under the influence, 26 incidents of speeding, one incident of no operators license, two incidents of driving while on a suspended or revoked license, and four incidents of expired or no Town of Herndon sticker. 

 

APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR HPD 2013 YOUTH POLICE ACADEMY

The Herndon Police Department is currently accepting applications for the 2013 Youth Police Academy. The YPA will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evenings from March 7 through April 11.
