Herndon Man Arrested for Inappropriately Touching 8-Year-Old Girl

The event allegedly took place at the man's home last month.

A Herndon man is in custody Friday after allegedly touching an 8-year-old girl.

Detectives from the Fairfax County Police Department arrested Joseph E. Bunnell, 49, of Herndon, on Friday, according to a statement from the department.

The arrest follows an investigation after the parents of an 8-year-old reported she was inappropriately touched by Bunnell. The event allegedly took place in the suspect's home on the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 21.

Police say the victim was not physically injured.

Police said Bunnell has been charged with one count of aggravated sexual battery. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
