FCPD to Hold Online Halloween Safety Chat Friday

Fairfax County Police will hold an online chat at noon on Friday, Oct. 28 to address Halloween safety

Fairfax County Police Department Crime Prevention Officer Brendan Murphy will be addressing Halloween safety during a live online forum at noon on Friday, Oct. 28.

Parents can join in the chat to make sure their children are prepared to trick-or-treat safely on Halloween. Those with questions for Murphy can submit them online now

Top tips to make sure children stay safe on Halloween are:
• Make sure children are crossing streets with an adult
• Walk on paths and sidewalks
• Cross the street at corners, obey traffic signals and crosswalk signs and watch for cars that may be turning or backing up
• Motorists should be alert and remember that many neighborhoods throughout the county will be filled with children collecting treats in both small and large groups—drive slowly
• Parents should make sure children wear something reflective on their costume or carry lights to make sure motorists can see them out walking
