Fairfax County Continues Click It or Ticket Campaign

Fairfax County Police hope to boost seat belt use.

Fairfax County Police are participating in the Click It or Ticket enforcement campaign from that began Nov. 11 and ends Nov. 18.

Police are trying to help save lives by cracking down on those who don't use seat belts. State and local law enforcement agencies are enforcing seat belt laws around the clock.

The US Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that in 2010, 61 percent of the 10,647 passenger vehicle occupants who were killed in car crashes during the overnight hours from 6 p.m. to 5:59 a.m. were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. During daytime hours that number was 42 percent.
