The following incidents were reported by the Town of Herndon Police Department. Where arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Dec. 30 - Indecent Exposure/Obscene Behavior: According to police reports, a 44-year-old Potomac Falls man was arrested on Dec. 30 for exposing himself in public view in the 500 block of Herndon Parkway. The man was charged with indecent exposure and obscene sexual behavior.

These are typical non-informative Herndon Police reports. I don't think Patch should waste its time posting them. At least with the bank robbery report, a security camera photo was finally released.

Anything linking actual reports? This has not worked in awhile. http://www.herndon-va.gov/Content/Police_incident_viewer.aspx

We are beginning to embark on a house hunt in Herndon. I never dreamed such nonsense went on here. Then, I should have known. Anyway I am never out at night--when I presume this stuff happens. I appreciate the info.

Considering the neighborhood, I doubt highly that it was a couple of suit wearing, middle aged males named Jones and Smith that dragged that person from the car. Welcome to the Barrio.

We get a lot of requests from readers to post regular crime information such as this (though I can also see why some don't like to read it). That being said, I have to say, it seems to me there is a fairly low rate of crime in the Town of Herndon. I get weekly reports from the police department, and there are often go entire weeks where there's nothing of note....then I'll get a report like this where there were just two for the week. This is in staunch contrast to the Patch site I ran back in California where they DAILY police report was 4 pages long. That's just my two cents though....

Lola - I wouldn't take these as representative of Herndon. We've lived within the town of Herndon for almost 5 years now, in a fairly typical/average neighborhood, and never had any issues. My wife and I walk or bike a lot of places in Herndon, often with our young kids. We've never felt very concerned for our safety due to criminal behavior (the drivers who blow through our neighborhood 4-way stop are generally a bigger safety concern). Bad things will, unfortunately, happen pretty much everywhere. The places where they happen daily/weekly are the ones to be most concerned about.

I agree with Matt. Although nowhere is completely crime free, Herndon’s crime rate is very low. You can go onto the Town of Herndon’s website and see their public safety page. I put the link below. You can view the police department's weekly press releases (which are the weekly crime reports) and view their annual crime report, which includes crime statistics. http://www.herndon-va.gov/Content/public_safety/Public_Information/default.aspx?cnlid=607
