Woman Who Went Missing From Herndon Found

Fairfax County Police said Thursday afternoon Laura McIntyre, 42, had been located.

Laura McIntyre, the woman who went missing from her job cleaning offices in the Fox Mill Shopping Center in Herndon Monday night has been found.

"[Laura McIntyre] has been found alive and well. Her disappearance was voluntary," Fairfax County Police said in a news release Thursday afternoon. "The Fairfax County Police Department would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance in this investigation."

Don Gotthardt, public information officer for FCPD, said McIntyre "became aware of the media attention and decided to make her whereabouts known."

McIntyre's mother, Sheri King, was not immediately available for comment after the announcement was made that her daughter was found.

King and McIntyre's boyfriend reported McIntyre missing Tuesday evening after she failed to return home from work late Monday evening. McIntyre's car, with her cell phone and medication in it, were found near the Fox Mill Shopping Center where she was cleaning an office that night. Her purse and car keys were found inside the office next to her cleaning supplies.

Police spent Wednesday evening searching the Herndon office building where her belongings were found; on Thursday, they expanded the search to the area surrounding her Springfield home.
