Body Found: Police Release Details in Herndon Creek Discovery

A neighbor reported seeing what appeared to be a body in the creek Friday morning.

Herndon Police are searching for anyone who may have seen anything in the early hours of Friday morning in connection with a body found near the area of Center Street and Locust Street.

The body of an adult male was found in the nearby creek.

Town of Herndon Police said they received a call around 8 a.m. from a resident in the area who saw what appeared to be a body in the creek.

"Herndon officers responded to the scene and confirmed it was an adult male who was deceased," public information officer Lt. Jim Moore said in a statement Friday afternoon.

Lt. Moore said they are in the process of notifying the man's next of kin, and until then will not be releasing the man's identity, although he said the man was approximately 25 to 30 years old.

Lt. Moore said the department has launched an investigation into the man's death, and that the cause of his death is not yet known, although he said "foul play is not suspected at this time."

Police are asking that anyone who may have seen anything in the area of Center and Locust streets between the hours of midnight and 8 a.m. Thursday night into Friday morning, to contact police. Call the Herndon Police Department at 703-435-6881 ext. 2332, or Detective Diaz at 703-435-2990.
