Virginia Education Association Endorses Tom Rust

Dear Voter:

The VEA has enjoyed a long and beneficial relationship with Delegate Tom Rust. As chair of the VEA Fund for Children and Public Education, I was pleased to see the recommendation for Tom's support come to my desk from the local leaders in his district.

As a result of his work on the commemorative resolution celebrating VEA's 150th anniversary, Tom received VEA's Legislative Champion Award at our April convention in Hampton. Back in 2004, Delegate Rust cast a courageous and critical vote to provide $1.5 billion in needed funding for our schools. He was one of 17 Republicans who stood up for us at that critical juncture.

Delegate Rust is a thoughtful legislator, given to careful reflection on the issues before him. His local government experience gives him insight into the issues of school funding that too few of his colleagues in the House share. His door is always open to the VEA, and we value him as a friend.

I urge your support of Delegate Thomas Davis Rust on November 5th.

Sincerely,

Meg Gruber, President
Virginia Education Association
