Spirit at HHS Football Games

I attended just about every home game for the mighty Herndon Hornets this football season - the first time I've been able to regularly attend local sporting events since I graduated from a small Midwestern school 15 years ago. I was disappointed to see the team enter the field to AC/DC's "Back in Black" instead of the school song. I have heard rumors from current HHS students that the head football coach chose this musically selection, and has even requested that the marching band not be on the field prior to the game. Of course, I could be way wrong and I'd like to know if this is in fact the case.

I didn't intend on making this rumor public until I read about the ordeal at Annandale High School's final home game. (Read more about that here: http://www.thea-blast.org/editorials/2013/11/13/band-kicked-field/

Why does a high school football team enter the field in the same fashion as a college or professional team? It makes no sense to me and - as a parent whose children may one day attend HHS - I'd like to know that Friday nights aren't all about a head coach, but instead about celebrating the vibrant community here in Herndon.
