A taste of Japan

Have you ever wanted to experience an extremely different culture than the one you live everyday? If so, you should apply for HSD! HSD (High School Diplomats)  is a scholarship program in which 40 American students and 40 Japanese students are selected to spend an amazing 10 days together at Princeton University. While there you will be paired with your Japanese twin for a roommate, and learn all about the Japanese culture as well as share American culture. While at Princeton, you will experience every aspect of Japanese life, from traditional morning yoga, to Japanese language and culture classes, to some delicious sushi, some fabulous Japanese dancing and much, much more! As a high school diplomat enrolled in HSD, you will share what foods you eat, what clothes you wear, what traditions you have (Prom, Halloween, etc.) and anything about yourself that differs from Japanese culture. HSD is a once in a life time opportunity that will forever alter how you look at the world. I can honestly say that my experience at HSD has greatly enlarged my heart, and has expanded my family to include 79 new members. Requirements for this program are minimal - you must simply be a sophomore (10th grade) or junior (11th grade) in high school. No Japanese language or knowledge is necessary! The point of the program is to bridge the gap between America and Japan. If you want to be a part of this life changing experience, you can go to http://www.highschooldiplomats.com/america.php to apply. If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to email me (aphares96@aol.com), and I'll be more than happy to help in any way that I can! Go HSD!!
