Obituary: Kelly Marie Markson, 54

Kelly Marie Markson, age 54, passed away Jan. 13, 2013 at home in Herndon, VA, after a long battle with lung and brain cancer. She was born Oct. 19, 1958 in San Diego, California to the late LCDR James Edward Lyons and Beverly Mabel Ricketts.

Mrs. Markson graduated from Orange Park High School (1976) in Florida and then obtained an associate's degree from Emory University (1978) and a bachelor's degree from George Washington University (1986). Active in private investment all her life, she was particularly focused on real estate and private equity markets. 

Mrs. Markson is survived by her husband of over twenty-five years, Edward (“Ned”) E. Markson, Sr.; her son Theodore (“Ted”) Coleman Markson; siblings Michael F. Lyons and his children Justin and Melissa, Pamela A. Phillips and her husband Richard and their children Tina, Tonya, Ricky and Zack, and James E. Lyons, Jr. and his son James E. Lyons, III; and her uncle Coleman R. Lyons and his wife Ann and their children Mary-Pat, Coleman Jr., Mark, Chris and Tim.

Mrs. Markson will be laid to rest at graveside services on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at 11 a.m., at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon, Va., with Adams-Green Funeral Home providing the arrangements.
