The Right Tools For The Job

Are you someone who is a "jack of all trades" maybe you are an expert at one particular thing, but not too good at most others? Maybe you are the type of person who just feels stuck and you aren't sure what your true purpose is, or you aren't sure what you are good at.

Are you in a job where you dread going to work, but you believe it's the only thing you are good at, so you don't have a choice but to do it, day in and day because you believe it's all you can do?

Let not your heart be troubled, because there are countless surveys that indicate that many Americans are unfulfilled with the work they do.  Why is it that we are so unhappy?   Most likely it is because you haven't found your true calling.

Confucius was quoted as saying "Choose a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life".  So why do most of us just do the same thing day after day and stay in a state of unhappiness?  There are probably a number of reasons, but they all boil down to one word:  FEAR.

I heard an acronym for fear, which is False Evidence Appearing Real.   We convince ourselves we are stuck where we are and we can't do anything about it; this is our lot in life.  Well, I am here to tell you it doesn't have to be that way!  The problem isn't that we can't do what we would love, but we do not have the right tools to do it at the moment, but why don't we go out and get those tools?  The answer is because usually it is easier to do nothing, but the result is we remain stuck.

What if you took an hour a week, or even better, an hour a day and did something that could improve your situation?  Why not take a computer course, or sign up to complete that degree you wanted to finish.  Maybe you could take a class at a technical school or get a certification and start a new career.

My brother's wife always wanted to be a bus driver and for years she worked at retail stores and restaurants, then finally in 2012, she decided to go for driver training.  She is now employed doing what she always wanted to do.  Why not you?   Do you have a love for something or an "I always wanted to do XYZ" but you never did it?   Put the time in and it can be yours.  You can make a change that makes you happy, many times the training is free or very low cost and the rewards are priceless.

If you are still stuck, or you just aren't sure what that "XYZ" is, a coach can help you.  If you want to know more about how a coach can help you make that change and help you achieve that new goal, feel free to contact me, I am happy to help.
