Herndon Has it All

Our Town is a hidden gem in the midst of Northern Virginia sprawl—what brought you to Herndon?

In 2002, we fell in love with a circa 1895 Victorian farmhouse on Elden Street and moved in that spring—we found it quite by accident, visiting an open house one spring morning! Six weeks later we moved in—just a two mile move, but a world away from our previous home in unincorporated Fairfax County.

We quickly realized that Herndon had it all—a historic downtown with small-town charm, a close-knit community, and outstanding services and amenities—and all within 30 minutes of both the Virginia countryside and Washington, D.C. and minutes from the airport. My husband, Dave, and I felt there was no better place to start our family than in the heart of downtown Herndon.

From the beginning we enjoyed life in the Town: the homecoming parade every fall, fireworks from the backyard during the Herndon Festival and 4th of July celebrations, and walking downtown to enjoy Friday Night Live, jazz at the Ice House, lunch at Jimmy's and slices of fresh bread at Great Harvest. Soon Maude would make its mark on the Town and we look forward to more niche businesses and activity Downtown.
