Five Things To Know This Week

The Herndon Town Council will have a public hearing Tuesday, Feb. 28 where they will vote on the Herndon Metro Station Area Plan.

1. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, including a hearing on the Herndon Metro Station Area Plan. The plan has been in the works for a few years, and the council can choose to vote for or against it, or continuing the item for another two weeks. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Mary Ingram Council Chambers, 765 Lynn St.

2. . Toddlers can come to the community center to run, jump, play on the tumbling mats and more. Children must be between walking age and 5 years old.

3. The Herndon Rotary Club meets for its weekly meeting on Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m. This week’s speaker will be Jeffrey Fairfield, speaking about his cross country bike trip.

4. , head over to the Herndon Community Center for a session on Thursday. Foods that will be made include turkey tenders and fruit salad. The two-hour class requires registration and costs $40 per person. 

5. . The program works to honor volunteers who work to create, preserve or enhance parks and outdoor spaces. A total of $15,000 will be given away to environmental nonprofit groups in the area. Learn more about nominations by clicking here.
