Countdown To Opening Night
With hell week officially begun, the Herndon Towne Square Singers are one rehearsal down and two rehearsals away from opening night on Saturday, December 7.
Last night’s rehearsal was our first time singing through the entire program without the aid of written music. It went well. True, there were some instances of forgotten words and missed entrances, but that’s to be expected at the beginning of the week. Now it’s up to each of us to go home and practice our specific problem areas.
The sound guys were on hand, too, and boy do they make a difference! We couldn’t do it without them, as we quickly found out when the Treble Clefs sang their number while positioned out of range of the microphones. The faces of those listening told the story. They couldn’t hear us!

A little instruction from the sound guys, a repositioning of the group and the issue was resolved. Then it was on to the next number and the one after that, with new instructions and/or advice at each step of the way.
Tonight, we’ll repeat the rehearsal process, having corrected (hopefully) last night’s issues. Such corrections don’t mean we’re home free. In fact, we’ll undoubtedly need to work on remedying a different set of issues. Still, it’s clear that everything is coming together at the right time.

Bottom line is that we’re excited about our Saturday night and Sunday afternoon shows, and we hope you are, too. A Christmas concert is a great way to kick off the Christmas season. Have you bought your tickets yet? We hope to see you there.

“Light, Camera, Christmas” will be performed at ArtSpace Herndon, 750 Center Street in Herndon on Saturday, December 7th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 8th at 2:00 p.m. This is a new venue for the Singers and seating capacity is limited to 72 seats, so sell-out crowds are expected.
Drop by the Herndon Community Center at 814 Ferndale Avenue in Herndon or call Herndon Parks and Recreation at (703) 787-7300. Unsold tickets will be available at the door on the day of the performance. The price is $12 per ticket.
