Health & Fitness

Thank you Herndon Festival Hands On Art Area Volunteers!

Thanks to our Festival volunteers!

Another wildly successful and fun Herndon Festival has come and gone!  I hope you and your family made it out to the Festival on one or more nights for music, arts & crafts, food, beer, games, rides, T shirts, connecting with friends and neighbors and having a great time. It is truly one of my favorite events of the year in our hometown and one that defines the spirit of our community.

I want to thank all the folks that make this event possible each year - especially to the Town's Parks & Rec department, the Herndon Police department and the Citizens Support Team, and to our fantastic Department of Public Works, who clean up the Town so beautifully on Sunday night that you can't even tell anything was going on for the last four days!  I have enjoyed serving on the Herndon Festival committee for the last decade or so and it is a great group of people that I appreciate more and more each year.

And I wanted to thank the many volunteers who donate their time and energy to making sure each Festival is better run, more safe and more fun than the last one!  The Council for the Arts of Herndon produces the Children's Hands On Art Area each year and it is entirely run on volunteers - my special thanks to the Herndon High School Keyettes, Herndon Middle School, the Herndon High Art Club and Art Honor Society, some of the CAH Youth Scholarship winners, Team Bengzon, Team Jonas, and more!  It's especially nice to have teens volunteer at the HOA since the kids who are our customers relate to and are inspired by their slightly older colleagues.
